You'll be met and driven to your Casablanca hotel where you'll check in.
In the Afternoon, we'll visit the Hassan II Mosque and then have a tour about the city to photograph some of the art deco structures and local food stalls. Dinner at a local restaurant for some traditional Moroccan cuisine.
After breakfast, drive to Rabat. You will enjoy tea on the historic riverbank of Kasbah des Oudayas, soaking in the view and ancient Almohad architecture, as well as the picturesque promenade and beach, and the famed Tour Hassan and Mohammad V's Mausoleum.
When you get in Chefchaoun, you will check into your accomodation. After dinner, you can join your tour leader for some night photography.
You will visit the Kasbah of Chefchaouen today, followed by a tour through the medina's tiny streets. You will love photographing old, blue-painted houses, street cats on the lookout for food, and the numerous small businesses selling regional handcraft. The medina invites you to express yourself through street photography.
This blue metropolis has every shade of blue, making it ideal for photography.
You will depart after breakfast for Fes, Morocco's cultural and spiritual center. From the surrounding hills, you will explore and photograph the medina, which features medieval Marinid architecture. It will provide you a first glimpse of the city, which you will explore the next day.
Your driver will pick you up this morning for your Historical Tour of Fes, which includes visits to the Royal Palace and the Mellah (Jewish district), as well as a walk through the Unesco World Heritage-listed historic medina and Fes El-Bali. Fes is the oldest of the imperial cities and the capital of Morocco's first Arab monarchy. It is also one of the most prestigious towns in the Muslim world. The Tanner's Quarters, small Moroccan art and craft museums, the water clock, the most colorful Souk el-Attarine, Fondouk el-Nejjarine, and the Medersa Bouanania, a brilliant example of architectural delicacy will all be visited.
You will pass by the Medersas and Al Karaouiyne University, both of which have been around for over 1000 years, and watch craftsmen working in the small passageways as they have for generations. A quick trip to the tanneries with your mint bunches to keep the stench at away! Your guide will take you to several hidden Art Galleries where you can marvel at Fes' incredible craftsmanship.
After an early breakfast, depart Fes for the Ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis, where you will spend the morning touring Morocco's best preserved Roman archeological site. A fertile agricultural region covering about 40 hectares surrounds the extensive remnants of its beautiful buildings. The sacred town of Moulay Idriss, one of Morocco's most prominent pilgrimage locations, will be your next visit. You will eat lunch here.
After that, you will return to Fez to photograph the city's street life, as well as various colorful souks and squares, the beautiful stucco and wood carvings of the 14th century Bou Inania Madrasa, and the mosaics that cover the Nejjarine Fountain, among other sights, not to mention a visit to the Chouwara Tanneries.
Leave Fez to Erfoud, going through Ifrane and Azrou. Ifrane is a haven of tranquility and vegetation. Lakes, fountains, and the feeling of being completely alone, startling, and invigorating. Azrou is 1250 meters above sea level and surrounded by verdant oak and cedar-covered mountains. In the Midelt region, stop for a picnic meal. Late afternoon, arrive in Erfoud, a French-built village on the banks of the Ziz River with red sand structures that stand out against the surrounding desert.
Leave for Merzouga and the trip to the Sahara Desert, stopping at Rissani for a short lunch and to explore this tiny market town city. Continue on to your bivouac camp, where you will arrive in the mid-afternoon in time for a camel ride and to witness the sunset over the dunes before enjoying a traditional Berber meal with folklore musicians as entertainment.
After breakfast, you will return to the Auberge by camel and travel back to Erfoud. You leave Erfoud and travel behind the High Atlas Mountains to Ait Ben Haddou. You will stop in Ouarzazate, Morocco's film capital, along the trip. As you traverse the High Atlas Mountains, the lovely river valleys provide for a beautiful journey. Depending on our arrival time, you will head out to the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah for the first sunset/blue hour shoot.
You walk up Ait Ben Haddou in the early morning light, before the village fully awakens. In fact, more films have been shot here than anywhere else in Morocco, including Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth, and, most recently, The Gladiator.
After a morning of shooting, you can unwind for the remainder of the day. A hammam, a swim, or even a massage are all options. You can go out for a second sunset shoot overlooking the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah if you want.
After breakfast, you will travel to Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains, with a stop at an Argan cooperative where women create the prized oil. Spend some time admiring the wonderful scenery. Arrive in the mid-afternoon and check-in at your accomodation, head out for a late-afternoon stroll to Djemaa El Fna Square to see the jugglers, storytellers, snake charmers, acrobats, and sellers perform at sunset, as they have for generations.
This morning, your local guide will accompany you for your Historical tour, which will include all of the attractions that this unique city has to offer. The Bahia Palace, located in the Mellah Jewish quarter, the Dar El Bacha museum, the newly renovated Medrasa, and, if time permits, the Secret Garden; no tour of Marrakech would be complete without a walk through the souks, where you will find everything from exquisitely embroidered shoes and belts to every type of spice, woodwork, brass and copper-work.
Take the journey back to Casablanca after leaving your hotel. This concludes your Morocco photography vacation.
